Ronald McDonald House building and design reception

Six years of hard work and a new Ronald McDonald House has been built. Wednesday evening was the building and design team reception and Deltera, Tridel’s construction services company, was one of the many people and organizations that were thanked for their contributions.

There was much praise of how Tridel and Deltera stepped forward and what they brought.

“They gave a huge gift of their time, resources and dollars to make this project happen,” says Bob Davies. “And if that wasn’t enough, at each building committee meeting, Deltera would come forward with more donations of time and money.”

John Davis said he was very happy to report that the project came in on time and under budget.

The video shown was incredibly touching and held the crowd's attention.

“The gift of construction management services for this project was an enormous boost for a small charitable organization trying to build a dream,” says Jane Marco, RMH Executive Director. “The expertise and care that have been extended to us from every member of the extraordinary Tridel team has been outstanding. We could not have asked for a better partner in any way.”

But after all the congratulations, there was a contemplative moment about what it all really meant. A mother told her story. She and her family have been staying at the current house since December 2010, when her baby was born with a heart condition. They spent over $1000 on accommodations in their first week in Toronto and knew they would never survive financially.

Toronto, Ontario, May 3, 2011 – In a night filled with special moments and distinctive honours, it was Tridel, Canada’s leading condominium developer, that took home some of the most prestigious accolades at BILD’s recent Home Builders Awards gala. The BILD Awards are presented each year to builders, architects, planners, and other disciplines actively involved in projects that have demonstrated building and design excellence.

While Tridel took the highly-coveted High-Rise Green Builder of the Year title, as well as the Best Website, and Best Sales Manager(s) awards, it was the presentation of the rare and prestigious BILD Lifetime Achievement Award to company founders Angelo, Elvio and Leo DelZotto that proved to be Team Tridel’s biggest honour on the night.

In introducing the recipients, BILD Chair Paul Golini Jr. acknowledged the DelZotto’s “lifetime of achievement”, suggesting that the award was “80 years and 70,000 units in the making.” After the introduction, the nearly 1,000 residential development industry attendees offered a prolonged standing ovation, before Leo DelZotto spoke, taking the opportunity to point to the exceptional efforts, professionalism and hard work of the Tridel employees; a group he referred to as “Team Tridel”.

“Team Tridel” was recognized throughout the evening with awards that honoured the Company’s achievements in advertising and marketing, and those of its individual employees. Tridel’s website (condo.ca) won for Best Website (High Rise), while Winnie Chan and Winson Chan received the Best Sales Manager(s) distinction.

Politicians Applaud Economic Impact of Tridel and Hullmark’s Mixed Use Development at Yonge and Sheppard

Toronto, November 10, 2010 – Premier Dalton McGuinty joined Member of Provincial Parliament David Zimmer today for a special event marking the official start of construction at the Hullmark Centre. A new mixed-use community at Yonge and Sheppard being developed by Tridel and Hullmark Developments, the Hullmark Centre, will include more than one million square feet of Class A office, retail and residential space, and boast an estimated commercial value of nearly one half billion dollars, once it is completed.

With significant positive economic impacts anticipates at both the local and provincial levels, the construction and development of the Hullmark Centre will create 2,400 person-years of employment in construction and supporting sectors, and directly generate over $123 million is wages. Once completed, the development will have, among other benefits, contributed more than $74 million in revenues to the federal and provincial governments, including $23 million in income tax payments, $10 million in CPP contributions, $4 million in EI premiums and, at least $37 million in HST. James Cooper Mansion - Moving History

On September 25, 2008, James Cooper Mansion made Canadian history as the heaviest move of a building. Estimated at well over 800 tonnes, the 126 year old building was moved by Canadian legendary mover, Laurie McCulloch. The building moved 20 feet to the west to allow for excavation of the parking garage and the Mansion's permanent slab. By year's end the Mansion will be pushed eastward toward Sherbourne street to rest on the slab. After completion of the 32 storey condominium tower to the rear, the Mansion will undergo renovations to serve as the condominium tower residents' new lifestyle amenities and common area. Homeowners will enjoy the most unique condominium recreational facility in Toronto. The Republic - Outstanding High-rise Building of the Year

Tridel's two awards - most outstanding high-rise building and high-rise project of the year - both came for its Republic of Yonge and Eglinton building in Toronto. All suites in the project were certified under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program. Used in their construction were materials such as low-volatile organic compound paints and carpeting to minimize off-gassing, environmentally friendly hardwood flooring, energy-efficient windows, Energy Star appliances, water-conservation fixtures, and high-performance ventilation systems.
